Walking in God’s Word

THE QUALITIES OF A CERTAIN WOMAN: LONGSUFFERING

Teaching 5 — Certain Women Fellowship

A Certain Woman is formed in her intimate moments with the Most High,
and also in the quiet, stretching seasons where she learns to endure.

Forgiveness opens the heart.
Repentance turns the heart.
Obedience establishes the walk.
Humility sustains it.
Longsuffering proves it.

Longsuffering Is Strength Under Pressure

Longsuffering is not weakness.
It is strength that chooses to remain steady when circumstances are not.

Scripture says:

“With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.” — Ephesians 4:2

A Certain Woman learns to endure:

  • misunderstanding
  • delay
  • hardship
  • seasons of waiting

without turning away from God.

Longsuffering Is Rooted in Trust

Longsuffering requires trust in the timing and wisdom of God.

It says:

“I do not understand this season,
but I trust the One who is leading me through it.”

“Let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” — James 1:4

A Certain Woman allows God to complete what He has started,
even when the process is slow.

Longsuffering Guards the Heart from Bitterness

Without longsuffering, hardship can harden the heart.

But a Certain Woman chooses to remain:

  • soft
  • forgiving
  • steady

even when she is stretched.

She refuses to allow:

  • pain to become bitterness
  • delay to become doubt
  • struggle to become separation from God

Longsuffering Reflects the Nature of God

God Himself is longsuffering.

“The Lord is… longsuffering, and of great mercy.” — Numbers 14:18

When a woman walks in longsuffering,
she begins to reflect the very character of God.

She becomes:

  • patient with others
  • gracious in difficulty
  • steady in trials

A Certain Woman Endures with Purpose

Longsuffering is not passive suffering.
It is purposeful endurance.

A Certain Woman understands:

God is forming something in me.
This season is not wasted.

She remains anchored, knowing:

Endurance produces maturity.

Reflection

Beloved sister,

Are you in a season that requires endurance?

Do not rush what God is developing in you.

Longsuffering is not punishment.
It is preparation.

Closing Prayer

Father,

Give me strength to endure with grace.
Help me remain steady when life feels uncertain.
Guard my heart from bitterness and teach me to trust Your timing.

Form in me the heart of a Certain Woman,
one who remains faithful through every season.

Amen

Certain Woman Fellowship

THE QUALITIES OF A CERTAIN WOMAN: HUMILITY

Teaching 4: Humility — Certain Women Fellowship

A Certain Woman is not elevated by pride, recognition, or the praise of people.
She is shaped in quiet surrender, where her life reflects the humility of the One she follows.

Forgiveness softens the heart.
Repentance turns it.
Obedience aligns it.
Humility keeps it low before God.

Humility Is the Posture of the Heart

Humility is not weakness.
It is not thinking less of yourself.
It is choosing to see yourself rightly before God.

Jesus said:

“Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” — Matthew 11:29

To be lowly is to be yielded.
To be meek is to be submitted in strength.

A Certain Woman does not strive to exalt herself.
She rests in allowing God to form her.

Humility Is the Way of Christ

The life of Jesus is the perfect example of humility.

“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant…”

— Philippians 2:6–7

Though He was Lord, He chose to serve.
Though He had all authority, He walked in surrender.

A Certain Woman understands this:

If Christ humbled Himself,
so must she.

She does not chase position.
She embraces posture.

Humility Requires Letting Go of Self-Exaltation

Pride seeks to be seen.
Humility is content to be known by God.

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.” — James 4:10

A Certain Woman releases:

• the need to prove herself
• the desire to be recognized
• the temptation to compare
• the urge to defend her own importance

She trusts that God sees what man may overlook.

And she rests in this truth:

What God exalts cannot be diminished by man.

Humility Is Trust in God’s Hand

True humility is not insecurity—it is confidence placed in God instead of self.

A humble heart says:
“Lord, not my way, but Yours.”

It does not resist correction.
It does not harden under instruction.
It remains teachable.

“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” — James 4:6

A Certain Woman desires grace more than she desires control.

So she bows low—
not in defeat,
but in trust.

Humility Is Evidence of Spiritual Maturity

As a woman grows in the Lord,
her need to be seen decreases,
and her desire to please Him increases.

She becomes:

• slower to speak
• quicker to listen
• gentler in response
• more aware of God’s presence than people’s opinions

What once stirred pride
now invites surrender.

What once demanded attention
now seeks alignment.

Humility becomes her covering.

A Certain Woman Walks Humbly with Her God

Scripture tells us clearly:

“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee,
but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”
— Micah 6:8

To walk humbly with God is to:

• stay near His voice
• remain sensitive to His leading
• acknowledge Him in all things
• give Him glory in every season

A Certain Woman does not walk ahead of God.
She walks with Him.

Step by step.
Yielded and aware.

Reflection

Beloved sister,

Is there any place in your heart where pride has quietly taken root?

The Lord does not reveal it to shame you—
He reveals it to draw you closer.

Humility is not loss.
It is safety.

For the lower we bow before Him,
the closer we are to His heart.

Closing Prayer

Father,

Create in me a humble heart.
Remove every trace of pride that separates me from You.
Teach me to walk low, to listen closely, and to trust You fully.

Let my life reflect the humility of Christ—
not seeking to be lifted by people,
but content to be shaped by Your hand.

Form in me the heart of a Certain Woman—
one who walks humbly with You in all things.

Amen.

Certain Women Fellowship: Obedience

Qualities of Certain Women: OBEDIENCE

Teaching 3: Obedience — Certain Women Fellowship

A Certain Woman is not formed by appearance, reputation, or outward perfection.
She is formed by her love for the Most High; when her love for Him becomes obedience to His voice.

Forgiveness and repentance open the heart.
Obedience establishes the walk.

Obedience Is the Language of Love

Jesus said plainly in John 14:15:

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

Obedience is not a price paid to earn God’s love.
It is the response of a heart that has already embraced it.

The woman who fell at the feet of Jesus in Luke 7:36–50 did not come because she was forced.
She came because love drew her near and something inside her recognized Him as Lord.

Jesus said this about her:

“Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven the same loveth little.”
— Luke 7:44–47

And He said to her:

“Thy sins are forgiven.” — Luke 7:48
“Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.” — Luke 7:50

True Obedience Is Born in Relationship

Religious duty can imitate obedience on the outside,
but only relationship produces obedience from the heart.

“He that hath My commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth Me.” — John 14:21

A Certain Woman does not obey merely because she must.
She obeys because she trusts the One who speaks.

She has learned that:

• His commands protect, not restrict.
• His direction leads to life, not loss.
• His will is mercy, not punishment.

So obedience becomes agreement with goodness.

Obedience Requires Surrender

Every true act of obedience contains a quiet surrender of self.

Jesus Himself prayed:

“Not My will, but Thine, be done.” — Luke 22:42

A Certain Woman discovers that obedience may ask her to:

• release what feels familiar
• walk away from what once defined her
• choose truth over comfort
• trust God without seeing the outcome

Yet she also learns this holy mystery:

Nothing surrendered to God is ever truly lost.

Obedience Is Evidence of Transformation

When a woman has truly encountered mercy,
her life begins to change—not by pressure, but by new desire.

“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous.” — 1 John 5:3

What once felt heavy now feels holy.
What once felt impossible now feels necessary.
What once felt distant now feels intimate.

Obedience becomes:

• her worship
• her safety
• her testimony
• her quiet “yes” to God each day

A Certain Woman Obeys Because She Knows Who She Belongs To

Identity changes everything.

A woman who knows she is:

• seen
• forgiven
• restored
• deeply loved

does not resist obedience.

She leans into it—
not as bondage,
but as belonging.

Obedience is no longer a rule to follow.
It is a path to remain near the One her soul loves.

Reflection

Beloved sister,

Where is the Lord inviting your obedience today?

Not in fear.
Not in shame.
But in love.

The same Savior who forgives you
also leads you gently forward.

And every step of obedience
draws you closer to His heart.

Closing Prayer

Father,

Teach my heart to delight in obedience.
Let my “yes” to You be rooted in love, not fear.
Give me courage to surrender what You ask
and faith to trust where You lead.

Form in me the heart of a Certain Woman—
one who hears Your voice and follows You faithfully.

Amen.

Qualities of a Certain Woman: Repentance

Teaching 2

A Certain Woman is not defined by perfection.
She is defined by the moment her heart turns toward God.

Forgiveness opens the door to hope…
but repentance is the step that walks through it.

Repentance is not punishment.
Repentance is invitation.

It is the gentle yet powerful turning of the soul
from darkness to light,
from hiding to being seen,
from distance to nearness with the Most High.

Repentance Begins in the Heart

Before repentance is ever spoken with the lips,
it is first felt as holy conviction within the heart.

Not condemnation.
Not shame meant to destroy.

But the loving awareness that says:

“Come back to Me.”

Scripture tells us:

“The goodness of God leads you to repentance.” Romans 2:4

True repentance is not driven by fear of punishment.
It is drawn by the kindness of God.

Repentance Is Turning, Not Just Feeling

Many feel sorrow.
Few truly turn.

Repentance is more than tears.
More than regret.
More than wishing things were different.

Repentance is a decision of direction.

Scripture calls:

“Repent therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.” Acts 3:19

To repent is to turn around
to leave the old path
and begin walking toward God.

Repentance Makes Forgiveness Alive

Forgiveness is offered freely by God,
but repentance is what allows the heart to receive it fully.

Without repentance, forgiveness remains distant
like a gift never opened.

But when a woman truly turns toward the Lord,
forgiveness becomes:

  • personal
  • healing
  • restoring
  • alive within her soul

This is why the woman in Luke 7 came weeping.
Her tears were not despair.
They were the doorway to restoration.

And Jesus answered her repentance with mercy:

“Your sins are forgiven…
Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.” Luke 7:48–50

Repentance Restores Nearness to God

Sin creates distance.
Repentance restores closeness.

The Lord promises:

“Return unto Me, and I will return unto you.” Malachi 3:7

Notice His heart—
not rejection,
but welcome.

A Certain Woman learns that repentance is not running from God,
but running back to Him.

Repentance Is Not a One-Time Moment

Repentance begins at salvation,
but it continues throughout a faithful life.

A Certain Woman keeps a soft heart before the Lord
quick to turn,
quick to listen,
quick to return when she has wandered.

Because repentance is not humiliation.
It is relationship maintained.

Reflection

Beloved sister,
is there any place in your heart the Lord is gently asking you to return?

Do not fear repentance.
It is not the loss of love—
it is the path back into it.

The same God who calls you to turn
is the One waiting to receive you.

Closing Prayer

Father,
search my heart and reveal anything that separates me from You.
Give me the courage to turn fully toward Your light.
Let repentance be gentle in Your hands,
not heavy with shame.
Restore my nearness to You
and form in me the heart of a Certain Woman,
soft, surrendered, and always willing to return.
Amen.

Qualities of a Certain Woman: Forgiveness

(Teaching 1 — Certain Women Fellowship)

Before a woman ever becomes one who follows Jesus closely…
before she walks in identity, purpose, and restoration…

she must first pass through the narrow, sacred doorway of forgiveness.

We often focus on the moment in Luke 7 when the unnamed woman falls at Jesus’ feet —
weeping, washing, anointing, loving.

But that moment did not begin in the Pharisee’s house.

It began in her heart, long before she entered the room.

Because Scripture teaches a principle:

“Forgive, and you shall be forgiven.” — Luke 6:37

You cannot receive what you are unwilling to give.

🌿 Forgiveness Was the Prerequisite

Before she ever approached Jesus,
before she broke open her alabaster box,
before she heard the words, “Your sins are forgiven,”
she had to make a decision deep within her soul:

to forgive those who had wounded her.

Because only a heart free from bitterness has the capacity to:

  • love deeply
  • repent fully
  • approach boldly
  • surrender completely

Unforgiveness is a chain.
She could not have walked into that house carrying it.

This means:

💛 She forgave those who misjudged her.
💛 She forgave those who misused her.
💛 She forgave those who labeled her.
💛 She forgave the ones who broke her.
💛 She forgave herself.

Forgiveness was the soil that made repentance possible.

🌿 Forgiveness Gives Boldness

We often ask:

“How did she have the courage to walk into a room full of Pharisees?”

Because forgiveness had already done its work inside her.

Unforgiveness keeps us hiding in shame.

Forgiveness releases:

  • boldness
  • clarity
  • spiritual sensitivity
  • courage to draw near
  • freedom to seek mercy

When a woman forgives, she is no longer controlled by the opinions of others.

She becomes a woman who can walk past:

  • judgmental eyes
  • condemning whispers
  • religious barriers
  • her own past

and fall at the feet of Jesus with nothing in her hands but devotion.

🌿 Forgiveness Makes Repentance Possible

You cannot repent while still holding resentment.

Repentance requires a heart that is fully turned toward God —
not partially divided between Him and offense.

The woman in Luke 7 had forgiven,
and so her heart was open,
soft,
pliable,
ready for full surrender.

Her tears were not tears of anger or accusation.
They were the tears of a woman whose heart had been cleared, emptied, and prepared.

🌿 Forgiveness Is What Makes a Woman “Certain”

The Certain Women of Luke 8 were:

  • restored
  • healed
  • delivered
  • women who loved much
  • women who followed closely

But all of this began with forgiveness.

Forgiveness reconstructs a woman’s identity.
It reconnects her to God.
It frees her from the weight of her past.
It opens her heart to receive and give love.
It transforms her into a vessel the Lord can use.

A Certain Woman is a woman who forgives —
and who has been forgiven.

🌸 Reflection for the Reader

Beloved sister,
is the Lord inviting you to forgive someone today?

Forgiveness is the key that unlocks restoration.

Without it, you remain outside the house.
With it, you can walk boldly into the presence of the Savior.

🌿 Closing Prayer

Father,
soften my heart.
Show me the people I need to forgive.
Help me release every debt, every wound, every memory that keeps me bound.
Free me from bitterness and teach me to love much,
because I have been forgiven much.
Make me a Certain Woman — healed, restored, and bold in Your presence.
Amen.

“Introducing the Certain Women Fellowship”

The current image has no alternative text. The file name is: Your-paragraph-text-4.png

🌿 Beloved in Christ,

With joy, I announce a new work within The Ten Step Guide Ministry:
The Certain Women Fellowship.

Who Are the Certain Women?

Scripture tells us that as Jesus traveled preaching the Good News,
“certain women… healed of evil spirits and infirmities” followed Him (Luke 8:1–3).
They were not random followers —
but called women, awakened by His mercy, drawn by His voice, and held by His love.

They are:

  • women whom the Lord sees
  • women He has restored
  • women forgiven much, and therefore loving much
  • women who remain close to Him
  • women who minister to Him out of their substance
  • women who follow faithfully, even when others turn back

But before Scripture names the “certain women” of Luke 8,
Luke 7 introduces us to a woman whose encounter with Jesus opens the doorway to understanding them.

She was not invited.
She was not respected.
She was not welcomed by the religious men at the table.

Yet she came anyway.

Broken with repentance, carrying the weight of her past, she fell weeping at Jesus’ feet.
Her tears washed His feet, her hair dried them, her kisses honored Him, and her alabaster oil anointed Him.

While the Pharisee judged her, Jesus defended her:

“Seest thou this woman? … Her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much…
Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.”

(Luke 7:44–50)

This unnamed woman — nameless to the world, but known to God — becomes the first glimpse of the Certain Women.

Before there were women who followed Him publicly,
there was a woman who surrendered privately.
Before there were women who ministered to Him,
there was a woman who poured out everything she had at His feet.

Her encounter is the seed that blossoms into the devoted women of Luke 8.

Because in the Kingdom, a woman is not qualified by her past —
but by her response to Jesus.

Women become “certain women” not by perfection,
but by encounter.
By repentance.
By love.
By forgiveness.
By the courage to draw near to Him when others expect you to stay away.
